WHEREAS, Certified Nurses Day is observed annually on March 19th to honor and recognize the dedication, professionalism, and clinical excellence of certified nurses across the nation; and

WHEREAS, Certified Nurses Day was established by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to acknowledge nurses who have earned national board certification in their specialty areas, demonstrating advanced knowledge, clinical competence, and a commitment to lifelong learning; and

WHEREAS, board certification is a voluntary and rigorous process that validates a nurse's expertise, leadership, and dedication to delivering the highest standards of patient care; and

WHEREAS, certified nurses serve in hospitals, clinics, schools, long-term care facilities, community health centers, and private practices throughout the City of Yonkers, contributing significantly to the health, safety, and well-being of our residents; and

WHEREAS, the City of Yonkers is home to dedicated nursing professionals serving institutions such as St. John's Riverside Hospital, St. Joseph's Medical Center, and various healthcare facilities that provide compassionate, high-quality care to our diverse community; and

WHEREAS, certified nurses play an essential role in improving patient outcomes, strengthening public health initiatives, mentoring future healthcare professionals, and advancing the nursing profession; and

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Yonkers recognizes that the expertise and commitment of certified nurses are vital to the resilience and overall health of our community;
