body
WHEREAS, the month of November is recognized internationally as Men’s Health Awareness Month to focus on preventive health care, physical fitness, and mental wellness for men and boys; and
WHEREAS, men face unique health risks, including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, cardiovascular disease, and depression, with 1 in 8 men diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime; and
WHEREAS, mental health is a critical component of overall well-being, yet men account for nearly 75% of suicide deaths in the United States, often due to societal stigma surrounding mental health support and treatment; and

WHEREAS, the City of Yonkers encourages all residents to support the men in their lives by promoting health education, early detection, and compassionate dialogue.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Yonkers City Council hereby proclaims the month of November 2026 as "Men's Health Awareness Month" throughout the City of Yonkers.
