RESOLUTION
BY COUNCIL PRESIDENT COLLINS-BELLAMY, MAJORITY LEADER RUBBO, MAJORITY WHIP NORMAN, MINORITY LEADER BREEN, COUNCILMEMBERS, PINEDA-ISAAC, DIAZ AND HODGES:
RESOLUTION APPROVING ACCEPTANCE OF A BEQUEST/DISTRIBUTION TO THE CITY OF YONKERS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE YONKERS ANIMAL SHELTER

WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Parks, Recreation and Conservation has reported that, under the John Steinkampf Jr. Irrevocable Trust, dated August 1, 2013, as amended September 2, 2020, the City of Yonkers has been named as beneficiary of a one-seventh (1/7) share of the undivided interest in the residence trust held by the decedent John Steinkampf, Jr. whose date of death was July 8, 2024 (“Steinkampf”), in the amount of One Hundred Twenty Thousand Dollars ($120,000.00), to be used for the benefit of the Yonkers Animal Shelter; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Yonkers finds it to be in the public interest to accept said bequest/distribution and to apply the funds for the support and improvement of the Yonkers Animal Shelter;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Yonkers, acting by and through its Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation and the Yonkers Animal Shelter, is hereby authorized to accept the aforesaid bequest/distribution in the amount of One Hundred Twenty Thousand Dollars ($120,000.00), representing a one-seventh (1/7) share of the resident trust Steinkampf Jr., for the benefit of the Yonkers Animal Shelter; and be it further
RESOLVED, that the Mayor, or his authorized designee, is hereby empowered to execute all instruments, acknowledgments and receipts, and to take all actions reasonable and necessary to effectuate acceptance of the bequest/distribution and to ensure that the funds are applied for the benefit of the Yonkers Animal Shelter; and be it further
RESOLVED, that this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
