WHEREAS, Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive brain disease that leads to memory loss and cognitive decline and is the most common type of dementia; and
WHEREAS, women, Latino, and Black Americans are at a significant higher risk for Alzheimer’s disease and dementia; and

WHEREAS, the Alzheimer’s Association is the largest non-profit funder of Alzheimer’s research and provides care and support to those living with the disease today with the help and support of its dedicated volunteers; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that this Legislative Body hereby proclaims the month of June 2025 as Brain and Alzheimer’s Awareness Month in the City of Yonkers.
