RESOLUTION - APPOINTING BISHOP DR. JAMES N. HASSELL AS A MEMBER OF THE PLANNING BOARD.

WHEREAS, Mayor Mike Spano has appointed Bishop Dr. James N. Hassell to the Planning Board, to replace Adelia Landi, whose term expired on December 31, 2025; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Hassel is a Yonkers resident and currently serves as President and CEO of Kingdom Neighborhood Development Corp., and is the Pastor and Founder of the Kingdom Christian Cultural Center, one of Yonkers foremost worship centers for Christian culture; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Hassell has a distinguished record of service to the City of Yonkers including serving on City boards and committees including the Joint School Rehabilitation Board, the Homelessness Task Force, the Police Reform Board, the Yonkers Youth and Gang Violence Prevention Coalition, and the Mayor's African American Advisory Board; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the Charter of the City of Yonkers, the appointment of a member of the Planning Board of the City of Yonkers is subject to the advice and consent of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Yonkers that the City Council approve the appointment of Bishop Dr. James N. Hassell to the Planning Board of the City of Yonkers; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Yonkers City Council hereby gives its advice and consent to the appointment of Bishop Dr. James N. Hassell, to the Planning Board, for a three-year term which will expire on December 31, 2028; and be it further
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution shall take effect immediately.
