RESOLUTION
BY COUNCIL PRESIDENT COLLINS-BELLAMY, MAJORITY LEADER RUBBO, MAJORITY WHIP NORMAN, MINORITY LEADER BREEN, COUNCILMEMBERS, PINEDA-ISAAC, DIAZ AND HODGES:
RESOLUTION ACCEPTING GRANT FROM THE UNITED STATES JUSTICE DEPARTMENT IN AMOUNT OF $36,640 TO PARTICIPATE IN THE EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT FY 2024 LOCAL SOLICITATION AND APPROVING AN INTERMUNICIPAL AGREEMENT WITH WESTCHESTER COUNTY

WHEREAS, the City of Yonkers (the “City”) acting by and through its Police Department has been awarded the United States Department of Justice (“DOJ”), Bureau of Justice Assistance to participate in the 2024 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (“JAG”) Program for state and local initiatives that will improve or enhance law enforcement programs; and
WHEREAS, this is a grant in which Westchester County will act as the fiscal pass through agent; and
WHEREAS. the DOJ Bureau of Justice Assistance has awarded the grant in an amount not to exceed $75,545 to Westchester County, Yonkers and Mt. Vernon, in substantially the following amounts: (i) Yonkers: $36,640; (ii) Westchester County: $17,886; abd (iii) Mt. Vernon: $21,019 for the period of October 1, 2023 through September 30, 2027; and
WHEREAS, the JAG does not require match funding; and
WHEREAS, the City is required to enter into an intermunicipal agreement in connection with use of the grant to fund police overtime for various law enforcement activities; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the acceptance of the FY2024 JAG award, in the anticipated total amount of $36,640, is hereby authorized; and be it further;
RESOLVED, that Mayor or his authorized designee is hereby empowered to execute all instruments and take all actions reasonable and necessary to effectuate the purposes hereof; and be it further
RESOLVED, that the above constitutes either a “Type II” action under the State Environmental Quality Review Act (“SEQRA”), and its implementing regulations, 6 NYCRR Part 617, or is not an action under SEQRA, both of which constitute actions determined not to have a significant effect on the environment and therefore do not require further environment review; and be it further
RESOLVED, that this resolution shall take effect immediately.
