A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF YONKERS RECOGNIZING OCTOBER 2026 AS POLISH AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH IN THE CITY OF YONKERS.

WHEREAS, Polish American Heritage Month is observed each October to celebrate and recognize the rich heritage, culture, traditions, and contributions of Polish Americans; and
WHEREAS, Polish Americans have made meaningful contributions to communities throughout the United States through their dedication, hard work, civic engagement, and commitment to family and community; and
WHEREAS, Polish American Heritage Month provides an opportunity to celebrate Polish culture, traditions, language, customs, and values, while encouraging greater understanding and appreciation of the diverse communities that make up our nation; and
WHEREAS, Polish American families, organizations, businesses, and community leaders continue to strengthen the communities in which they live through their civic, cultural, educational, and charitable efforts; and
WHEREAS, The Polish American community has contributed to the cultural, civic, and economic life of the City of Yonkers and continues to play an important role in our diverse and vibrant city; and
WHEREAS, Recognizing Polish American Heritage Month provides an opportunity to honor the contributions of Polish Americans and celebrate the traditions and values that continue to be shared with future generations; and
WHEREAS, The City of Yonkers recognizes the importance of celebrating the diverse cultures, traditions, and communities that contribute to the strength and character of our city; and
WHEREAS, The City of Yonkers encourages all residents to recognize Polish American Heritage Month and to celebrate the rich culture, traditions, and contributions of Polish Americans in our community; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Yonkers City Council hereby recognizes and declares October 2026 to be Polish American Heritage Month in the City of Yonkers and encourages all residents to celebrate and honor the heritage, culture, traditions, and contributions of Polish Americans.
