A SPECIAL ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF COUNTY GRANT FUNDING FROM THE WESTCHESTER COUNTY MUNICIPAL INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENT INITIATIVE GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $546,871 AND AMENDING THE CITY OF YONKERS GRANT BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR 2025/2026.

The City of Yonkers hereby ordains and enacts:

 

                     Section 1:  Westchester County (the” County”) under its Municipal Infrastructure Improvement Initiative grant (WC MIII) has awarded a grant of up to $546,871 to the City of Yonkers (the “City”) to help fund the purchase and installation of Electronic Vehicle (EV) charging stations at an estimated total project cost of approximately $1,093,741.

 

                     Section 2:   The City is required to provide a local matching share equal to up to fifty percent of the approved cost of the project.  Any secondary grant funding provided by a third party will reduce the contribution of both the County and the City of Yonkers equally.

 

                     Section 3:  The purchase and installation of this of equipment is a “Type II” action under SEQRA and its implementing regulations, 6 NYCRR Part 617, which constitute actions determined not to have a significant effect on the environment and therefore requiring no further environmental review; furthermore, the installation of chargers at the Fernbrook location were considered as part of a review for that capital project and received a negative declaration on December 10, 2024.

 

                     Section  4:   The Mayor of the City or his authorized designee is hereby empowered to execute any and all instruments and take such other actions as may be necessary to effectuate the purposes hereof.

 

                     Section 5:   The City’s Grant Budget for fiscal year 2025/2026 is hereby amended by increasing revenues and appropriations for the Department of Public Works, as follows:

                     Section 6:  This ordinance shall take effect immediately.
