BY COUNCIL PRESIDENT COLLINS-BELLAMY, MAJORITY LEADER RUBBO, MAJORITY WHIP NORMAN, MINORITY LEADER BREEN, COUNCIL MEMBERS PINEDA-ISAAC, DIAZ, AND HODGES:

WHEREAS, Mayor Mike Spano has appointed Melissa Kaplan-Macey to be the Deputy Commissioner of Planning and Development for the City of Yonkers; and
WHEREAS, the Deputy Commissioner designee has vast experience in the area of land use, zoning law, housing, transportation, sustainability and development matters having previously served as chief initiative officer of The Housing Collective, leading housing and development strategies; and
WHEREAS, the Deputy Commissioner designee possesses all of the qualifications, experience and training necessary to assist in guiding this Department and the City in its continued growth, development and prosperity; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section C3-2(7) of the Charter of the City of Yonkers, the appointment of the Deputy Commissioner of Planning and Development is subject to the advice and consent of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the City Charter requires for this appointment a waiver of Section C2-8 be granted; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Yonkers that the City Council give advice and consent to the appointment of Melissa Kaplan-Macey, as Deputy Commissioner of Planning and Development and, in doing so, the waiver required by Section C2-8 of the Yonkers City Charter be granted;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Yonkers City Council hereby gives its advice and consent to the appointment of Melissa Kaplan-Macey as Deputy Commissioner of Planning and Development; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the waiver required by Section C2-8 is granted; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution shall be effective immediately.
