A SPECIAL ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF STATE GRANT FUNDING FROM THE NEW YORK STATE DEPARTMENT OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SERVICES COVERDELL 2024 GRANT PROGRAM IN THE AMOUNT OF $58,159, AND AMENDING THE CITY OF YONKERS GRANT BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR 2024/2025.

The City of Yonkers hereby ordains and enacts:
Section 1: New York State has authorized grant funding of $58,159, acting by and through its Department of Criminal Justice Services (NYSDCJS) towards the Coverdell 2024 Grant Program, which provides funding to the Yonkers Police Department Forensic Science Lab to improve the quality of forensic science services.
Section 2: The City previously budgeted $57,433 for this grant and now must increase the budget for this grant program by $726.
Section 3: The above constitutes a “Type II” action under SEQRA and its implementing regulations, 6 NYCRR Part 617, which constitute an action determined not to have a significant effect on the environment and therefore requiring no further environmental review.
Section 4: The Mayor of the City or his authorized designee is hereby empowered to execute any and all instruments and take such other actions as may be necessary to effectuate the purposes hereof.
Section 5: The City’s Grant Budget for fiscal year 2024/2025 is hereby amended by increasing revenues and appropriations for the Police Department, as follows:

Section 6: This ordinance shall take effect immediately.
